Kashaun McGhee is a non-binary, self-taught multi-instrumentalist, vocalist, and actor currently based in New York City and Philadelphia. They've played with numerous amounts of bands as a drummer, bassist, guitarist, and singer; ranging from punk and pop to jazz and hip hop. Since they were 14, they have been in numerous stage productions, as well as writing and directing their own on the few occasions they get. They take inspiration from all sorts of media: namely video games, music, and film. They came up with the name aweirdexperiment because he thought it sounded cool.

- Does the name aweirdexperiment mean anything?No. It just sounds cool.- What genre is this project?Anything it wants to be. While larger scale projects will likely have a consistent theme and tone, singles and smaller scale stuff will be music I like and want to make because I can.- Can we at least know what we can expect?It could be anywhere from Rock and Industrial to Lo-Fi and Electronica. Also, definitely covers/mixes/re-imagined versions of existing songs.- Do you have a favorite genre?Rock is the one I listen to the most. That and Future House. But I try to listen to all genres of music to familiarize myself with different sounds to use in the future.- What are a few qualities we can expect from your music?Dark yet hopeful.- Why did you start aweirdexperiment?In truth, when I was a junior or senior in high school, I started aweirdexperiment as a completely different project. I tried to make an ARG (alternate reality game) by myself but I didn't know where to take the story and I ended up scrapping it. I wanted to revive the name but not the concept and just make music.- How long have you been making music?I've been a musician for awhile at this point, but I've only started making music in this way since probably around 2016.- Do you make music/art outside of aweirdexperiment?When I'm not working on aweirdexperment, I'm a member of the heavy pop/alt rock band, Act Sorry.- Who are your influences?Honestly, I'm not sure. I listen to so many artists and I like to put a little bit of everyone I listen to into my music. So, I'll answer this with a list of artists I've listened to the most lately:
